The CLYFFSIDE BREWING COMPANY retained Stockton-West-Burkhart as their advertising agency in 1940. At that time the brewery was operating at a financial loss and was losing its position in Cincinnati, its major market. Stockton-West-Burkhart, after thorough market research, recommended a well-rounded advertising plan. Labels were re-designed, changes made in the product. Within nine months, operations were in the black. In 1944, sales were 92% greater than in 1939.
